Southern California is an area of great religious and spiritual diversity that has spawned many interfaith groups. Much of the splendid work of these groups has been local in focus. It would clearly add to the depth and richness of this work to be in contact with similar communities in other parts of the US and the world. The Council for the Parliament of the World’s Religions, (CPWR) which in modern times has been convening since 1993, serves as a “big tent” facilitator and catalyst of such local communities. CPWR meetings in Chicago, Capetown and Barcelona have drawn around 10,000 participants individually. The main purpose of this event is to link the existing network of interfaith groups in Southern California with the global reach and activity of the Parliament.
there lies a field. I’ll meet you there.”
