THE UNITED RELIGIONS INITIATIVE (URI)
Letter of Introduction for Margi Ness
Co-Coordinator for North America
The United Religions Initiative is pleased to announce the appointment of Margi Ness as the co-regional coordinator with Stephen Fuqua for North America. URI is grateful to the GC trustees from North America and Stephen for participating in the selection process.
Margi lives in Boulder, Colorado. She first heard about URI from her friend, Gurudev Khalsa, a long time friend and consultant for URI. After hearing Charles speak in Boulder last fall, Margi was very impressed with URI and visited the San Francisco office. Currently Margi is active with the Community for Sudanese and American Women helping to resettle “lost girls” from the Darfur region and she is a certified leader with Circles of 10: Women for World Peace. Margi has worked in service projects in Tibet, Kenya Ecuador, Peru and Mexico. During the Vietnam war Margi worked for the American Red Cross in Vietnam. Margi brings a lifelong commitment to peace justice and healing in the world. Margi also brings excellent experience in senior level management positions with non profit organizations. Margi graduated from Georgia State University and holds a Masters degree in Sociology.
As co-coordinator Margi will be responsible to uphold the Preamble, Purpose and Principles and the spirit of the URI. She and Stephen will work together to share responsibilities for coordination in the region. Margi’s primary responsibility will be to insure effective communication with CCs. Margi, Stephen and the trustees plan to meet in San Francisco in early February to further develop plans for the region for 2007-2008.
Acting on behalf of the URI global community, URI warmly welcomes Margi Ness in this key staff position and is honored to announce this appointment to the URI CCs in North America and to the international URI global community.
