19 june.
Nairobi.

19 june. Nairobi. Maroon 5 blares throught the speakers of Matatu #9 as we race throught the streets of Nairobi. We alight in what looks like “Little Somolia” and wind our way quickly throught the crowded streets. As the only white face in sight, I attract a lot of attention. We have come to exchange money. The Somali bank gives a rate 1.6 higher than anwhere else we have found. For smaller amounts, it wouldn’t be worth the long trip to this rough area of town. But we are exchanging quite a bit of cash - enough to buy supplies to take into Southern Sudan. I wander through a market to draw attention away from Abraham as he goes to the bank. Everything takes more time here. We have spend a week arranging a truck to take donated food and supplies to northern kenya where we will charter a plane to Sudan. After days of customs, duties, trucking bonds, and other logistics, we will truck the school supplies and charter a plane to take the food out of customs and unto Loki. We are taking a commercial flight to Loki tomorrow to meet up with the supplies and then it’s off to Sudan.
