Global Assembly and Bowes Award Websites

URI staffer Mark Mancao writes: At last, the Global Assembly website is now available at www.globalassembly2008.org! [Read on for info about the Bowes Award grants for CCs as well]

Our theme is “Pilgrims of Peace: Many Paths, One Purpose,” and we are truly making the journey together as pilgrims to a very special place. Throughout the year, our whole URI community will be preparing and building excitement for this important time when representatives from CCs across the globe will meet face-to-face, to learn, share and celebrate together. What does being a pilgrim mean to you?

Please spend some time reviewing the information on the website and thinking about what more you would like to find there. From the people who previewed the site, I have received some excellent suggestions already. In the next few weeks you will be able to find more photos of the venue, links for planning your travel (visa information, medical tips, currency conversion, weather and more) and helpful suggestions for raising money to send your CC representative and/or young leaders to Mayapur. The great suggestions I receive from the community will be added to the site when the registration material is posted in early February and updated throughout the year as new questions and opportunities emerge. A Spanish version of the site is also being developed for early February. So, browse around now, talk about the Global Assembly with your CC, and send me your comments, questions and suggestions.

Also, as you browse the Global Assembly website, you will find links to learn about and apply for the Bowes Award, which will be celebrated at the Global Assembly. The award will acknowledge and lift up one model project in each of the eight regions that catalyzes innovation and cooperation among CCs and the individuals and organizations in their communities. The 8 CCs with winning proposals will each receive US$5,000, as well as scholarships for two representatives to come to Mayapur so that they can present their winning proposals.

We are well on our way to Mayapur!
