Interfaith Young Adult Gathering in San Francisco

Here’s a great model for URI CCs to look toward. The Interfaith Center at the Presidio sponsors a group called Friends in Faith, which “is an emerging group of Interfaith young adults, youth, and like minded supporters interested in spreading peace and understanding through the sharing of stories.” Read on for to see how they are going about inviting these young people to their upcoming events.

Friends In Faith,As we witness the movement from summer into fall, we enter into a time of great transformation reflected in the cycles of nature and in ourselves.

This the time of the autumn equinox known as Mabon and also called Harvest Home , this holiday is a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and a recognition of the need to share them to secure the blessings of the Goddess and God during the winter months.

This celebration coincides with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It is on Yom Kippur that Jewish people all over the world are asked to take stock of their past year, their behaviors, their relationships with others, God, and themselves.

So given this auspicious time of the year we invite you to our next FIF discussion/event, focused on the theme…”transformation in cycles”.

What are some of the cycles of your faith tradition and how do they inform your life?

How have you experienced the cycles of your faith tradition as transformational and/or instructive in your own life?

We will gather with a group of young adults from a variety of faith backgrounds as we explore this topic together and share our perspectives from our various faith traditions.
